Nominations for Just Married 2024 are open (a little early)! Find the tagset here: https://archiveofourown.org/tag_sets/19708.

Nominations will close 11:59pm UTC on May 31. To convert UTC to your time zone, click here, adjust the date as necessary, and click “add a city or time zone.”

Please disambiguate relationship nominations (add the fandom name in parentheses behind your nomination). This will help us approve your tags faster.

Last year's freeforms have been copied over to this year's tagset, and we will also be accepting new tags. Please add category prefixes when nominating! A list of prefixes can be found here (last year's sheet) - thank you to the spreadsheet creator.

Nomination Guidelines:

You may nominate up to 7 fandoms, 7 relationships per fandom, and 10 freeform tags. Mods will approve nominations throughout the time range, and clarification questions will be posted to this community.

For relationship tags, please nominate in the format 'Character A/Character B' for romantic relationships and use 'Character A & Character B' for non-romantic relationships. You may nominate more than two characters in a relationship.

Please disambiguate all relationship tags by adding "(Fandom Name)" at the end. Examples: Jake Peralta/Amy Santiago (Brooklyn Nine-Nine), Confused Male Demon & The Male Prime Minister He Accidentally Possessed (Original Work).

Freeform tags are for trope or situation matching. Examples include: arranged marriage, accidentally married, sedoretu, etc. Feel free to get creative but please aim for clarity. For example, “soulbond marriage” is ambiguous, “marriage with forced soulbonding” is clearer.

Please include a category when nominating freeforms! This is to help us keep the tagset organized. A list of categories can be found here (thank you to the sheet creator). To use it, please save or download a local editable copy. You can then browse the categories, or click into individual categories to see the freeforms within that category. The public spreadsheet will be updated from time to time as new freeform tags are accepted.

Please also nominate only marriage tropes and situations! Freeforms unrelated to marriage will be rejected.

Specific fandom notes:
All Dragon Age nominations go under Dragon Age: All Media Types.
All of the associated movies go under Marvel Cinematic Universe. Please nominate Marvel TV shows on their own.
All of the associated movies go under DC Extended Universe.

Original Works are welcome. Please nominate under the Original Work fandom tag. If you have specific genders in mind, include those in your nomination. Example: “Female Soldier/Male Assassin (Original Work).”

Crossovers are welcome. Please nominate crossover relationships under the Crossover Fandom tag. List the character name followed by their canon. Example: “Tony Stark (MCU)/Bruce Wayne (DCU).” Crossover nominations that do not follow this format may be rejected.

Is there a way/are we permitted to nominate the Star Trek universe with original characters? I would like to nominate Star Trek with Original Male Vulcan/Original Female Vulcan. I don't really care what era it's set in and it doesn't need to be tied to a specific show. In the fandom space I frequent, we call it Expanded Universe, but I'm not sure how you would handle something like that.

Nomination question: What prefix should I use if I nom "Couple is legitimately unsure if they're legally married or not"?

There was a popular challenge in the Harry Potter fandom, back years and years ago before the books had even all been published, called the Marriage Law challenge. Premise: after the war was over, the Ministry declared that the Wizarding world had had too many deaths and they needed more babies and so required people to get married. (This challenge was especially popular in the small but dedicated group of Snape/Hermione shippers.) I was never active in the Harry Potter fandom, but I did read some of the fic and lurked occasionally, and my basic assumption upon seeing "Marriage Laws" as a category would be something similar to that old HP challenge.

OTOH, that was a long time ago, so I have no idea if anybody but me would have that confusion.

Yeah, but "government requires arranged marriages for breeding purposes" (which is what the old Marriage Law fics boil down to) can be fandom agnostic. And if I hadn't seen this discussion, my first assumption would be that's the premise assumed in anything labelled "Marriage Law." Which is why I bring it up.

Would you consider switching the prefix to “Omegaverse” for the tropes in that category? I know it might be a bit of work to convert the old noms, but the prior category label reads like a slur for aboriginal people, even with slashes between the letters! Thanks for the consideration.

are original characters allowed? Sorry if this is in the rules somewhere, I can't really find anything about it!
